Revamping Inclusively’s Branding
and Web Design for Accessibility and Enterprise Appeal

Let’s Dive In!

Inclusively, an enterprise software dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, sought a fractional Art Director to address critical issues with their branding and web design. In the summer of 2023, Inclusively and I teamed up to solve these problems.

The challenges? Their brand was on the right track conceptually but needed to ensure compliance with accessibility guidelines in the brand design. The colors palette didn’t have enough contrast value, and the illustrations, web design and branding was struggling to keep up. Additionally, as the company was maturing, it was time to swap out the playful vibes for a more enterprise-ready look. Beyond the branding evolution needed, they had web functionality limitations posed by a custom WordPress theme, hindering flexibility and ease of modifications.

Problem 1: Branding and Accessibility

The first step was to tweak the color palette to provide more breathing room for accessible design. We cranked up the contrast to make sure everyone could enjoy the brand, and from there, it was a domino effect. We worked our magic on the illustrations, social media designs, sales collateral, and even the presentation materials, giving everything a fresh, accessible glow while still keeping it serious enough for the big leagues.

Initial Assessment

  • Brand’s conceptual direction lacked adherence to accessibility guidelines, particularly in the color palette and illustration design.
  • Insufficient contrast value in the color palette hindered the usability of graphics and text, impacting brand visibility.
  • Necessity to transition from a more playful brand to appeal to a more enterprise audience.

Solution

  • Updated the color palette to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and enhance contrast for improved readability and inclusivity.
  • Revamped the brand’s identity, including illustrations, social media design, sales collateral, and presentation design, to align with the enterprise audience.

Problem 2: Web Woes No More

The website was feeling a bit stuck in the past with a custom WordPress theme that was about as flexible as a brick. So, we waved goodbye to the old theme. Enter the Divi Builder – a tool that lets us tap into our inner design dreams, making changes on the fly and flexing our creative muscles without needing a web developer to implement.

Initial Assessment

  • Custom WordPress theme posed significant limitations on making essential changes without complex development work, hindering flexibility and adaptability.

Solution

  • Transitioned the website away from the custom WordPress theme and implemented the Divi Builder to enhance flexibility and enable seamless modifications.
  • While maintaining site speed and accessibility standards, the adoption of Divi Builder empowered the team to make dynamic changes on the website, ensuring adaptability and future-proofing the site’s design and functionality.
